The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a fantasy novel for children by C. S. Lewis, published by Geoffrey Bles in 1950. It is the first published and best known of seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia (1950–1956). Narnia, a land of talking animals and mythical creatures that is ruled by the evil White Witch. In the frame story, four English children are relocated to a large, old country house following a wartime evacuation. The youngest, Lucy, visits Narnia three times via the magic of a wardrobe in a spare room. Lucy's three siblings are with her on her third visit to Narnia. In Narnia, the siblings seem fit to fulfill an old prophecy and find themselves adventuring to save Narnia and their own lives.

The Catcher in the Rye is a story by J. D. Salinger, partially published in serial form in 1945–1946 and as a novel in 1951.[3] It was originally intended for adults but is often read by adolescents for its themes of angst and alienation, and as a critique on superficiality in society.[4][5] It has been translated into almost all of the world's major languages.[6] Around one million copies are sold each year, with total sales of more than 65 million books.[7] The novel's protagonist Holden Caulfield has become an icon for teenage rebellion.[8] The novel also deals with complex issues of innocence, identity, belonging, loss, and connection.
The novel was included on Time Magazine's 2005 list of the 100 best English-language novels written since 1923,[9] and it was named by Modern Library and its readers as one of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century

Before the killing, Raskolnikov believes that with the money he could liberate himself from poverty and go on to perform great deeds. However, once it is done he finds himself racked with confusion, paranoia, and disgust for what he has done. His ethical justifications disintegrate completely as he struggles with guilt and horror and confronts the real-world moral consequences of his deed.

Animal Farm is an allegorical novella by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945.[1][2] The book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Поэзия непереводима, но иногда случается чудо и гений перевода- James Falen родился для того, чтобы по-английски в рифмах онегинской строфы перевести-пересказать Евгения Онегина, это, конечно,  не Пушкин, которого мы чувствуем по-русски, но его дух благосклонно и весело витает в каждой английской строке этого перевода. Английский текст такой сочный, что мне захотелось много лет назад полностью начитать русско-английский параллельный текст этого перевода в mp3 аудиоподкасте, работа наконец закончена 08.09.2019, а начал я начитывать эту аудиокнигу больше десяти лет назад !. А великий ценитель английского слова Stephen Fry несколько лет назад начитал этот перевод по заказу одного русского фонда, который легально бесплатно выкладывал эту аудиокнигу в сеть, сейчас их сайт уже не работает, но аудиокнига останется в истории межкультурной коммуникации. PS. см. ниже- оперу "Евгений Онегин" в чеховско-тарковской интерпретации Дмитрия Чернякова- этот спектакль останется в истории мировой оперы и остается в моей душе
